Aloe vera
Aloe vera, also known as Aloe barbadensis, is a popular succulent plant known for its medicinal properties and multiple uses in cosmetics. Native to North Africa, this plant has thick, fleshy leaves, arranged in rosettes, and can reach up to 60 to 90 cm in length. The leaves are generally green, sometimes with white spots at the edges, and are lined with small spiny teeth.
Aloe vera is famous for its clear, viscous gel, contained in its leaves, which has been used for centuries for its soothing and healing properties. It is commonly used to treat burns, sunburns, skin irritations and small cuts. In addition to its benefits for the skin, Aloe vera is also used in many hair care products to moisturize and nourish the hair.
To care for your Aloe vera, place it in a sunny location where it can get several hours of direct sunlight per day. This plant prefers well-drained soil, so use a potting mix specific for succulents or cacti. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot.
Aloe vera is an easy-to-care-for plant that is resistant to diseases and pests. However, watch for signs of root rot or leaf rot, and act quickly if necessary. With proper care, your Aloe vera can thrive and provide you with its medicinal and aesthetic benefits for many years.
