Kalanchoe Thyrsiflora | Flapjacks
Originally from South Africa, Kalanchoe Thyrsiflora is a sculptural succulent with round, fleshy leaves stacked in a pagoda-like rosette. Its grey-green foliage takes on a delicate pinkish-red hue in the sun – a natural tableau that changes with the seasons. Ideal for a sunny window, an office, or as a unique gift.
Light: Full sun or very bright light. The more sun it receives, the redder and more intense its edges become. A south or west-facing window is ideal.
Watering: Very little water – allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. In winter, water barely once a month. It stores water in its leaves and is very drought-resistant. Overwatering is its main enemy.
Temperature: Tolerates temperatures between 10°C and 30°C. Avoid frost and temperatures below 5°C.
Humidity: Prefers dry air.
Soil & Repotting: Well-draining cactus and succulent potting mix. Repot every 2-3 years in spring.
Fertilization: A diluted succulent fertilizer, once or twice a year in spring and summer. No fertilization in winter.
Flowering: Produces a long yellow flower stalk at the end of the main rosette's life – spectacular, but the mother rosette dies after flowering. Offsets naturally form at the base to take over.
Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested.
