Monstera deliciosa | 'Super Golden'
(expect blemishes) A rare and highly sought-after variety of the famous Monstera deliciosa! Unlike the classic white variegation, the 'Super Golden' displays vibrant foliage marbled with golden yellow to chartreuse, sometimes even almost entirely golden on some leaves. With its characteristic splits (fenestrations) that develop as it ages, each new leaf is a true surprise for collectors. A guaranteed showstopper for any interior! 🌟
Care:
- Light: Bright, indirect light, essential to maintain the golden variegation. Lack of light will cause the foliage to revert to green over time. Avoid intense direct sun, which can scorch the more sensitive yellow parts.
- Watering: Allow the topsoil (about 5 cm) to dry out between waterings. Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot.
- Humidity: Appreciates a humid environment (50-60%). A humidifier promotes healthy growth and beautiful fenestrations.
- Temperature: Between 18°C and 27°C. Avoid cold drafts and sudden fluctuations.
- Soil: Light and well-draining potting mix, rich in organic matter (an aroid mix with perlite and bark is ideal).
- Fertilization: Balanced fertilizer in spring and summer, about once a month.
- Support: A moss pole is highly recommended – climbing allows the plant to produce larger leaves with better fenestrations.
- Repotting: Every 1-2 years, depending on growth rate.
- Special Note: The yellow/golden parts contain less chlorophyll and are therefore more fragile – avoid scorching and intense light shocks.
- Toxicity: Toxic to humans and animals if ingested – keep away from children and pets.
