Lavandula "Lavender"
A Mediterranean plant with gray-green foliage and a soothing fragrance, lavender is prized for its mauve to purple flower spikes and distinctive aroma. Grown indoors in pots, it adds a Provençal touch and a natural fragrance to the home. However, it requires very specific conditions to thrive indoors.
Care (indoors)
-
Light : Requires at least 6 hours of direct light per day. Place near a very sunny window (ideally south-facing).
-
Watering : Water when the soil is completely dry on the surface. Avoid overwatering – it does not tolerate stagnant moisture.
-
Temperature : Enjoys temperatures between 18 and 24°C. Likes a cool period (around 10-15°C) in winter to rest.
-
Ventilation : Need for good air renewal – avoid places that are too confined or humid.
-
Substrate : Very well-draining soil, such as cactus or potting soil mixed with sand or perlite.
-
Fertilization : Very low-maintenance. A mild fertilizer for Mediterranean plants, once a month in spring/summer, is sufficient.
-
Pruning : Pinch off faded flowers and prune lightly to maintain a compact shape.
